A FEW USEFUL QUESTIONS

Find a starting point.

Choose what matters now. You can change your mind, or compare the guides directly.

Count travel separately. Santiago’s city days do not include Camino walking stages.

This is a preference, not an accessibility assessment.

Italy & Vatican City

Rome & the Vatican

Who it suits
A starting point for the apostles, major basilicas and sacred art.
Time to allow
3–4 full days
Main tradeoff
Allow for city transfers, walking and security queues.
Decide first
Choose whether a museum visit or papal event is an essential part of your journey.

Umbria, Italy

Assisi

Who it suits
A focused journey around Francis, Clare and the places of their communities.
Time to allow
2 full days
Main tradeoff
The historic hill town and valley need separate planning; more time does not remove the slopes.
Decide first
Choose a hill-town or valley base, then check the final connection before committing to a room.

France

Lourdes

Who it suits
A sanctuary-centered stay for Marian prayer, the Grotto and shared worship.
Time to allow
2 full days
Main tradeoff
Choose the seasonal program first; individual access and assistance arrangements still need checking.
Decide first
Find the sanctuary program for your dates before arranging the rest of each day.

Portugal

Fátima

Who it suits
A Marian pilgrimage centered on the Rosary and time for prayer at the sanctuary.
Time to allow
1–2 full days
Main tradeoff
A short sanctuary visit and a visit including outlying places require different amounts of time.
Decide first
Decide whether this is a sanctuary stay or also includes Aljustrel and Valinhos.

Wisconsin, United States

Our Lady of Champion

Who it suits
A day pilgrimage option for visitors within a manageable journey of Wisconsin.
Time to allow
Half or full day
Main tradeoff
A local day plan only works if the complete drive and return are realistic for you.
Decide first
Confirm your chosen Mass or devotion, then plan the whole drive and a meal.

Wisconsin, United States

Our Lady of Guadalupe, La Crosse

Who it suits
A Marian shrine visit in western Wisconsin, with sacred art and time for prayer.
Time to allow
Half or full day
Main tradeoff
The church is uphill from the Pilgrim Center. Confirm assistance if needed and count the complete return journey.
Decide first
Choose your Mass or prayer time, then arrange the ascent to the church and the full return journey.

Galicia, Spain

Santiago de Compostela

Who it suits
Prayer at Saint James’s cathedral, with or without a Camino journey.
Time to allow
1–2 city days; Camino stages extra
Main tradeoff
A short city stay is separate from walking a Camino. Plan baggage storage, arrival and any certificate requirements.
Decide first
Choose a cathedral visit or a walking journey; count the stages and your Santiago stay separately.

County Mayo, Ireland

Knock

Who it suits
A Eucharistic and Marian pilgrimage with time for Mass and quiet prayer at the Apparition Chapel.
Time to allow
One full day or an overnight
Main tradeoff
The airport and railway station are outside Knock village; arrange the final transfer and return.
Decide first
Choose a day visit or an overnight, then confirm your Mass and the complete journey.

Mexico City, Mexico

Our Lady of Guadalupe, Mexico City

Who it suits
A Marian pilgrimage centered on the tilma, prayer, and the shrine at Tepeyac.
Time to allow
One full day; optional second day
Main tradeoff
Plan the city transfer and decide separately whether the optional Tepeyac ascent suits you.
Decide first
Choose an ordinary shrine day or a feast pilgrimage, then confirm worship and your arrival.

Norfolk, England

Walsingham, England

Who it suits
A Marian pilgrimage around the Catholic shrine and the village of Walsingham.
Time to allow
One full shrine day; optional overnight
Main tradeoff
The Catholic shrine at Houghton St Giles is south of Little Walsingham. A village bus stop or room still leaves a shrine transfer to arrange; the walk is optional.
Decide first
Choose your shrine worship and decide whether to include the village before arranging transport.

Częstochowa, Poland

Częstochowa & Jasna Góra

Who it suits
A Marian pilgrimage to Jasna Góra, centered on prayer before the image of Our Lady of Częstochowa.
Time to allow
One full day; optional overnight
Main tradeoff

Decide first
Choose a day visit or an overnight for evening prayer and another morning, then confirm the shrine programme and your arrival station.
