ABOUT PLAN MY PILGRIMAGE
Sacred places. A thoughtfully planned journey.
Plan My Pilgrimage helps English-speaking Catholics plan independent visits to places that matter to their faith. We bring spiritual context and practical decisions together, so the journey leaves time for its purpose.

The person behind the project
Plan My Pilgrimage, LLC, based in Minnesota, United States, operates this independent pilgrimage planning resource. William Rasschaert receives enquiries and corrections at hello@planmypilgrimage.org.
William completed the Camino section from Sarria to Santiago. His personal Camino note explains choosing a pace and challenge that fit the individual. Notes about that journey are labeled as his personal experience; the other destination guides are based on research and linked official sources.
The guides are research-based editorial resources. They do not claim William has personally visited, tested or endorsed every place or service described.
Pilgrimage destinations, explored with care
Explore city pilgrimages, Marian sanctuaries and shrine visits in the destination library, including Santiago de Compostela and the Wisconsin shrines. The destination atlas connects the geography to full guides, sacred places, accommodation areas and suggested days.
The planning library covers a first pilgrimage, budgeting, packing, church etiquette and choosing where to stay. Our signature Rome–Assisi route brings visits, overnight bases and transfers into one adaptable plan.
Free comparison, budget and checklist tools turn the reading into practical next steps. The route packets and shrine planning sheets can be downloaded without an account or email signup.
How we approach the guides
How the guides are researched
Our starting points are official shrine and Church pages, public tourism information and transport operators. The guides link these sources beside the details they support, so you can continue to the people responsible for a place or service.
We check published visitor arrangements and record source-check dates. Worship schedules, opening times, entry conditions, transport and assistance should be confirmed for your travel date through the linked official pages. A general church-opening time may differ from access to a tomb, visitor route or celebration.
When official pages give conflicting information, we look for the current notice or date-specific programme. If the conflict cannot be resolved, we link the current official information or leave out the uncertain claim. An older event page does not establish arrangements for a later visit.
Facts, planning choices and review dates
Stay lengths, itinerary blocks, meal and rest intervals, and accommodation-area suggestions are editorial recommendations. Adapt them to your intention, companions, budget, mobility and pace. They are not reservations, guided tours or personally tested hotel reviews.
An “Updated” date records an editorial change to a page. The source-check dates show when particular visitor information was checked; a later planning or layout edit does not mean that every source has been checked again. Use both the stated dates and the official information for your journey.
We distinguish documented history from Catholic tradition and devotional belief. We describe Church recognition where it is relevant and do not promise spiritual or physical outcomes from a visit.
Maps help with orientation. Numbered site diagrams do not certify entrances, walking routes or step-free access. Their location sources and data credits are linked beside the maps.
Independence and corrections
Plan My Pilgrimage is an independent publication, not a travel operator or official shrine website. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Vatican, any diocese, religious community or featured destination. Bookings are made directly with the providers you choose. Official visitor sources are ordinary links. Any paid links are clearly marked and disclosed beside the relevant recommendations.
If a detail is out of date or a source has moved, use the contact page. Include the guide and the specific correction, with an official source if available. We welcome useful corrections without presenting reader suggestions as verified facts before review.
Links, recommendations and commercial relationships
Plan My Pilgrimage may earn a commission on qualifying bookings or purchases through links marked “paid link.” We explain that relationship beside the relevant recommendation before you follow the link. Our booking and gear resources distinguish paid links from ordinary research links.
Our accommodation-area and property-type guidance explains practical tradeoffs independently of commercial arrangements. It is researched guidance, not personally tested hotel reviews. Compare the actual room, route, meals, access and booking terms with the provider.
Editorial choices, destination guidance and prayer content remain independent of commercial arrangements. Our core guides, tools and downloads remain free without subscribing or making a purchase.

Occasional emails offer new or substantially improved guides, practical planning decisions and a short reflection on a sacred place. Every guide, tool and download remains available without subscribing.
A place for attentive travel
You do not need to visit every chapel or fit every attraction into a single trip. We favor a few meaningful stops, clear preparation and enough space for prayer, hospitality and the unexpected.
